"Toby"

"Toby" 14" x 14" oil - sold

I just finished this commissioned piece. At first I really struggled. But, then I sat back regrouped and pressed on. My wife hates it when I run into road blocks. I really learned a lot during this painting and in the end I think it turned out well. I played around with a split complimentary color scheme and worked on just the "feeling" of the paint as I applied it. That might sound strange, but the consistency of the paint and how much medium to use makes a big difference.

I finished this over the weekend and sadly I had to put down our 16 year old lab, Twix. So, I think this is a fitting salute to her.
